Who/what inspires your practice?
The inspiration behind my practice has evolved over time. Initially, it stemmed from necessity during my youth; I yearned for new outfits but lacked frequent access to them. This led me to utilize my mother's fabric, igniting my fascination with colors and patterns. As an adult, my inspiration is drawn from my emotions and surroundings.

What's your why?
My "why" revolves around the significance of self-expression and the desire to craft beautiful art through clothing. It's about bringing joy to my clients, making them feel cherished, and realizing their visions. The fulfillment of seeing their happiness is unparalleled. Additionally, my commitment to delivering quality, genuine craftsmanship, and attentive care in each creation further fuels my purpose.

Each piece reflects my current mindset, life experiences, cultural influences, and the prevailing societal context. My artwork serves as a reflection of my innermost thoughts and sentiments, capturing the essence of who I am at that moment.

How would you describe your practice?
Eldior Sodeck is a fashion and lifestyle brand based in New York City that offers a unique fusion of contemporary designs with African-inspired flair. As the founder, I draw inspiration from my cultural heritage and modern life to create a range of women’s and men’s clothing that features bold prints and colors reflecting the vibrancy of African culture.

The brand collaborates with local artisans and craftspeople to create sustainable products that promote social and environmental responsibility in Cotonou and New York City.

How do you sustain your discipline?
Maintaining discipline is about finding a balance between structure and adaptability. I prioritize setting clear goals and breaking them down into manageable tasks, which helps me stay focused and motivated. Establishing routines and schedules provides consistency, but I also allow myself flexibility when needed.

Having a supportive community, like the one I've built through my GoFundMe campaign to launch my "Luxe" department at Eldior Sodeck, keeps me accountable and motivated. Additionally, reinvesting all profits back into my business ensures its growth and sustainability, serving as a constant reminder of the importance of discipline in achieving long-term success.

A funny, ironic, wild story or time in my studio.
Cardi B was quite the adventure! I got the heads-up just four hours before they were jetting off from a hotel in NYC, and I was stuck, at work. After some quick negotiation with my boss, I raced home to Harlem to dig through my stuff for something fabulous. But then came the curveball—they were leaving from a private airport in the Bronx, and I was short on cash! Luckily, a friend came to the rescue, and we sped there in record time. Even though I was feeling under the weather and going through a rough patch, the excitement of having my clothes chosen for Cardi B lifted my spirits.
