Woki Masssaquoi.
I am an interdisciplinary artist from the Bronx, NY, with Sierra Leonean roots. My interdisciplinary work explores memory, identity, and the sacred lineage of Black life across time and spaces. My journey as a self-taught photographer began in 2008 when my father gifted me my first compact camera. After reconsidering a move to California, I interned for Mobolaji Dawodo, as an assistant fashion stylist and Xango Republic, as an assistant. I studied Meisner technique with Melvin Williams, performing at the Producers Club in NYC with Theatre for A New Generation. As a dancer, I toured internationally
and nationally with The Golden Voice of Mali, Awa Sangho. My painting has been exhibited in a group show with#DayOnesArt at Flux Factory in Queens, NYC. As well as being a fellow for The Black Utopian
 Fellowship.
Since refocusing on photography in 2015, I had the honor of photographing the first Sierra Leone Diaspora Investment Conference.
I am committed to offering visual storytelling of the everyday lives and achievements of the African and Black people of the Diaspora, and our descendants through conceptual, documentary, and street photography.
